How to Mash

Step 1:

Download videos from this site to your computer (Click on the MASH tab under the video player)

Step 2:

Edit a mash-up with an editing programme on your computer (We’ve got tips for iMovie and Windows Movie Maker users. For other editing packages check out our full video tips list)

Step 3:

Shoot your own original comedy video. Add that to your mash-up edit.

Step 4:

Export your edit and Upload your published video file back to Mash Pit Comedy. Remember to tick the “Is it a mash?” box when you upload.

Step 5:

Share your video with the world. Spread the word via email, your blog, Facebook, Twitter, Bebo, MySpace, Friendfeed, the playground, the water-cooler et al. The more views, comments and love you get, the better chance your mash has of getting on TV!

Video Tips!

Before you upload your comedy:

  • Keep your video under 5 minutes
  • Your video file should be no bigger than 100MB
  • Film your video full-screen, ideally 16:9 aspect ratio, screen resolution 1024x576 pixels
  • Use a low-compression codec like H.264 with 25 fps for best results.
